Aura Query

Dear Agent or Editor,

Born as her mother lay dying from a vampire bite, Aura is raised by her overbearing aunt and uncle. By sixteen, Aura can’t wait to be free of her home, synagogue, and school full of dull classmates. That is until Nigel, a charming British student enters her English class. He stirs emotions in Aura that she’s never felt before, causing her to care about her aunt and uncle, and religion. Nigel’s father, who plans to leave The States in one year, forbids him to date Aura. But soon they can’t deny their feelings. While Aura worries about Nigel leaving, he holds back from completely falling for her.

Aura convinces Nigel to extend his stay. She’s happy as long as she ignores her inability to bleed, transient superhuman strength, and fascination with blood. When her estranged father appears and tells her these are signs she’s becoming a vampire, Aura worries she could endanger her boyfriend, repeating her parents’ fate. She also can’t reconcile her recent devotion to Judaism with becoming one of the damned. At first Aura ignores the signs, but soon she can no longer deny her transformation. She knows she should run from Nigel but can’t deny his hold on her. Aura must decide whether to follow her religion, heart, or recent taste for blood.

My Young Adult paranormal romance, Aura, complete at 53,000 words is a standalone novel with series potential. The manuscript and synopses are available at your request. I’m an associate member of SCBWI and currently am a substitute teacher in Cambridge. Like Aura, I’m a native New Yorker.

Thank you for your consideration of this manuscript.

Sincerely,
